Safety First

First of all you must consider the safety of your home or business.
  • What is the electrical situation?
  • Are there slip and fall hazards?
  • Risk of wet debris falling, example: the ceiling, tile laid over wet drywall?
  • Don't hurt yourself. Leave the heavy lifting to us. Wet materials weigh far more than they did when dry.

What You Can Do Once You Know Its Safe
  • If you have a plumbing leak, find your outside water shut off and turn off your water. 
  • Mop up standing water as quickly as possible.
  • Wipe water from furniture.
  • Remove wet upholstered furniture & bedding to a dry area where the air can circulate.
  • If furniture is to heavy to move & is sitting on wet carpet put legs on wood blocks or wrap with aluminum foil.
  • Remove wet area rugs from wet carpet & flooring especially if they are heavily dyed.
  • Remove all items from the room that may be damaged by higher than normal humidity levels.
  • During the summer if you have AC, turn it on.

Do NOT Do This
  • Do not leave any fabric items to sit. Hang them to dry.
  • Do not leave shoes, leather items or furs in wet location. Remove them to a dry location where they can air out.
  • Do NOT use your household vacuum for cleaning up any standing water or wet materials.
  • Do NOT use any electrical appliances, including your TV, computer or radio in wet areas.
  • Do not use your ceiling fan.
  • Do not going into rooms where ceiling are wet and or sagging. They may fall at any time.

  • Is it safe to enter your home or business?
  • Biological contamination can pose very serious risks to your health.
  • If you have experienced a natural flood, water may contain sewage or even dangerous chemicals.
  • If you believe it is safe, use precautions and use the proper protective covering, ie, contamination suit, mask, gloves, boots.

What To Do
  • Stay out of infected areas.
  • If the situation is life threatening, call emergency help immediately.
  • All water coming from the toilet (even without waste), bath & shower drains & sinks is considered contaminated.
  • Turn of your AC or heating system if there is sewage so that contaminated air is not spread.

What NOT to Do
